Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the SubTrack app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for macOS that was created by Timothy Morgan (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”) as an Open Source service. This service is intended for use “AS IS”.

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

The Application collects limited data to provide its core functionality and improve reliability. The specific categories of data are described below.

Your video files

The Application never uploads, transmits, or copies your video files anywhere. All inspection and processing happens on your Mac, using a copy of FFmpeg bundled inside the Application that is built with networking disabled entirely and cannot open a network connection of any kind. Neither your files, their names, nor their contents are sent to the Service Provider or to anyone else.

Crash and diagnostic data

The Application uses Sentry, a third-party error monitoring service, to collect crash reports, performance and profiling data, and other diagnostic information. This data helps the Service Provider identify and fix bugs and improve performance. Sentry may collect device information, app state at the time of a crash, and performance traces. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you. Events generated by debug builds and by automated test runs are discarded before transmission and are never sent.

iCloud data

The Application uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync your saved presets — the sets of rules governing which tracks to keep — across your devices via your iCloud account. This data is stored in your personal, private iCloud container and is managed by Apple under their privacy policy. The Service Provider does not have access to your iCloud data. Your queues, file lists, and output locations are stored only on your Mac and are not synced.

Update checks

The version of the Application distributed directly from GitHub, outside the Mac App Store, checks for new releases by requesting the public list of releases from GitHub’s API. This request carries no identifying information about you beyond what any web request necessarily reveals to GitHub, such as your IP address, and is governed by GitHub’s privacy policy. You can disable these checks entirely in Settings ▸ Updates. The Mac App Store version does not perform this check, because the App Store keeps it current.

Tracking

The Application does not track you. It does not use advertising identifiers, does not engage in cross-app tracking, and does not share data with advertisers or data brokers.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

Crash and diagnostic data is transmitted to Sentry (a third-party service) for error monitoring. Update checks contact GitHub, as described above. No other data is shared with third parties. Your video files never leave your Mac, and your iCloud preset data is never sent to the Service Provider or any third party.

What are my opt-out rights?

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your device or via the application marketplace. Update checks can be turned off separately in Settings ▸ Updates, and preset syncing stops if you sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud Drive for the Application.

Children

The Application is listed in the Utilities category and is not used to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application, please contact the Service Provider (apple@timothymorgan.info) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions. You must also be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf).

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Crash and diagnostic data transmitted to Sentry is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), as are update checks. Your iCloud preset data is protected by Apple’s security infrastructure and stored in your private iCloud container. The App Store version of the Application is sandboxed; the direct download is not, so that it can run an FFmpeg build you supply. Either way the Application reads and writes only the files and folders you give it access to.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to their Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 27 July 2026.

Your consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
